So today I finally tackled my Entire Studio jacket maintenance. Honestly, I’ve been putting this off for weeks because jacket care always feels like a chore. But when I noticed those coffee stains on the cuff and that musty smell creeping in, I knew it was time to act.
The Pre-Wash Inspection
First thing I did was turn the jacket inside out like a burrito. Checked every single seam and pocket lining – bam! Found an old train ticket and three lint balls hiding in the corners. Used a soft brush to gently scrub the collar where my skin oil builds up. Pro tip: doing this pre-wash stops dirt from setting deeper.
My Washing Setup
Dumped the jacket in my bathtub because my washing machine’s too harsh. Mixed lukewarm water with just two tablespoons of mild detergent – anything stronger eats away at the fabric. Let it soak for exactly ten minutes while I set a phone timer. Saw the water turning gray immediately, proof this was overdue!
The Agitation Dance
Time for action! Used my hands to massage the jacket like kneading dough:
- Focused on armpits and cuffs where sweat stains live
- Gently squeezed instead of twisting
- Never lifted it when wet – that’s how shoulders get deformed
Rinse & Dry Routine
Drained the soapy soup and refilled the tub three times until the water ran clear. Pressed out water between towels like a panini press – no wringing! Hung it on a wide wooden hanger in the shade since sun bleaches colors. Took a full 24 hours to dry completely, during which I flipped it twice to prevent fold marks.
Long-Term Storage Switch
After it dried, I did three things for future freshness:

- Sprayed fabric refresher inside the lining
- Stuffed the arms with tissue paper to hold shape
- Used a canvas garment bag instead of plastic
The result? Jacket feels lighter and smells like clean linen now. Those stubborn collar stains vanished completely. Learned that regular care beats deep cleaning marathons – doing this every three months should keep it crisp for years. Worth every minute of effort!
