Alright so yesterday I was cleaning out my buddy’s bathroom cabinet after helping him move, and man, found a whole pile of those tiny coke spoons tucked behind the shampoo. Rusty, bent, honestly gross. Got me thinking – there’s gotta be less sketchy ways people handle this stuff, right? Not encouraging anything illegal, just… if it’s happening, maybe safer options exist.

My Dumb Experiment Begins
Grabbed my “testing kit” – basically just some fine salt pretending to be the real deal for practice. Safety first, obviously. Started rummaging through the kitchen drawer like a raccoon.
Attempt 1: Cut Plastic Straw
- Snipped a tiny bit off a drinking straw. Way too flimsy.
- Couldn’t scoop anything properly. Salt just spilled everywhere. Total fail.
Attempt 2: The Makeup Spatula
- Stole one of my partner’s little silicone makeup spatulas (shhh!).
- Way too damn big and soft. Like trying to eat soup with a spatula. Nope.
Attempt 3: Key Shot? Nope.
- Tried using the scoop edge of an old house key. Awkward angle.
- Metal felt cold and impersonal. Also looked super suspicious. Bad vibe.
Actually Finding Something Useful
Was ready to give up, nearly tossed my salt shaker back in the cupboard. Then my eyes landed on my nephew’s forgotten LEGO bin. Bingo.

The LEGO Solution
- Snagged a flat 1×2 brick. Washed it like crazy with soap and boiling water.
- Used sandpaper (fine grit!) to smooth any rough edges around the studs.
- Perfect little scoop between the studs? Held just enough salt for my “test”.
- Super sturdy plastic. Easy to clean again afterwards. Felt… less sketchy?
Why It Felt Less Bad
- No sharp bits to scratch or carry germs.
- Plastic won’t react like metal can.
- Doesn’t scream “drug paraphernalia” if someone sees it.
- Actually washable properly without worrying about rust.
Look, it’s still plastic. Maybe not perfect. I’m not a scientist. But compared to rusty metal spoons fished out of a grimy bathroom? Yeah, the LEGO piece felt way less likely to give someone an infection or cut their nose up. Whole thing just made me realize how dirty and risky those little spoons really are. Just sharing what I fiddled with, alright? Be smart.
