But there was always something a little bit off if you looked too closely – a weird shimmer in the eye, a slightly too-smooth skin texture, or a background that looked like it was melting.

They’re amazing tools, for sure, and fun to play with, but they’re not magic wands. It’s a process, a lot of trial and error.
And the funny thing? After spending all that time wrestling with the AI to conjure up a celebrity in a fancy dress, when I finally went back to my original sketching project, my head felt a bit clearer. The creative block had eased up a little. Sometimes, I guess, you just need to step away and do something completely different, something that uses a different part of your brain. Even if that something is trying to make an AI behave. Go figure.
