Alright, so you’re thinking about tackling those MGK and Megan Fox costumes. I went down that rabbit hole myself not too long ago, and let me tell you, it was a bit of a project. It’s not just throwing on some clothes; you gotta get the vibe right, you know?
Figuring Out MGK’s Look
First up was MGK. My first thought was, “Okay, tattoos. Lots of ’em.” And the pink! He had that bright pink suit phase, or just generally loud outfits. I decided to aim for something recognizable but not break the bank.
- The Outfit: I started hunting for a cheap suit. Thrift stores were my first stop. Found a light-colored one I thought I could dye. Dyeing it pink was an adventure in itself, let me tell you. Ended up a bit splotchy at first, had to do a second pass. Then, the open shirt look, or sometimes just no shirt. I figured a black tank top underneath would be safe.
- Tattoos: No way I was getting real ones, obviously. I looked into those temporary tattoo sheets you can print on. Spent a good evening trying to get the printer settings right. Then cutting them out and applying them? Patience, my friend, lots of patience. Especially for the neck and chest ones. Some looked okay, others were a bit blurry. Good enough from a distance, I figured.
- Hair & Accessories: His hair’s often blonde and kinda messy. I got a cheap blonde wig and tried to style it, give it that “just rolled out of bed but make it fashion” look. Loads of hairspray. Then the jewelry – fake pearls, chunky rings. Scoured some costume jewelry shops for anything that looked remotely like his stuff.
Tackling Megan Fox’s Style
Then came Megan. She’s all about that glam, but with an edge. The key for her was finding a specific iconic look. I thought about that sheer Mugler dress she wore, or some of her red carpet outfits.
- The Dress: This was the trickiest part. Finding something off the rack that screamed “Megan Fox” was tough. I ended up looking for a simple, tight-fitting black dress. Something long and sleek. I couldn’t replicate any specific designer dress perfectly, so I went for the overall silhouette. The main thing was it had to be body-hugging.
- Makeup & Hair: Her makeup is usually flawless. Dark, defined eyes and a strong lip. I watched a bunch of makeup tutorials, practiced the winged eyeliner a few times. It’s harder than it looks to get it symmetrical! For hair, long, dark, and wavy. My own hair wasn’t quite there, so I got some clip-in extensions. Blending them in took a while.
The Whole Process – Putting It All Together
So, I had all these bits and pieces. The next step was the actual assembly and trial run. This is where you find out what works and what really, really doesn’t.
For MGK: Getting the tattoos on straight and making them look somewhat convincing took ages. The wig needed constant readjustment. And wearing all those fake rings felt weird, but it added to the look. I had to make sure the pink suit wasn’t too pink, if you know what I mean. It needed to look deliberate, not like a cartoon character.
For Megan: The dress had to fit perfectly. Any bunching or pulling looked off. The makeup took the longest. I probably redid the eyeliner three times. The extensions needed to be positioned just right so they didn’t look fake. Then, practicing the poses, that confident stare she has.

We did a little pre-party photoshoot just to see how it all looked on camera. That’s when you spot the little things, like a tattoo peeling at the edge, or the wig looking a bit too much like a wig. Made some last-minute tweaks with safety pins and more hairspray.
Honestly, it was a lot of small, fiddly jobs. Sourcing the right cheap bits, altering them, then spending hours on the details like makeup and temporary tattoos. It’s not like you just buy a packaged costume and you’re done. You sort of have to build these looks, especially if you’re trying to get that specific celebrity feel without spending a fortune.
But yeah, when we finally got it all together, it felt pretty good. We got a lot of “Oh, I know who you are!” comments, so I guess all that effort paid off. It’s definitely doable, just be prepared to put in some time and get creative with your resources. Good luck if you decide to go for it!
