Okay, so, grip socks pilates, right? I finally gave it a shot and I’m gonna tell you all about it.

First off, I was always kinda skeptical. Like, are these things really necessary? I’ve done regular pilates before, just barefoot, whatever. But, I kept seeing people rocking the grip socks, so I caved and bought a pair. They were cheap-ish, some basic ones from Amazon. Nothing fancy, ya know?
The studio I go to had a intro class. It was a small group thing, which I liked. As soon as I stepped on the reformer, I immediately felt the difference with the grip socks. I wasn’t sliding all over the darn place! Normally, my feet would be slipping, especially when doing leg presses or anything that involved pushing off.
We started with the basics: footwork, hundred, some planks. The grip socks gave me so much more control, I swear. Like, I could really focus on engaging the right muscles instead of just trying not to fall off the machine. My core felt more engaged, and I felt super stable.
Then the instructor moved us on to some more advanced stuff. There was this one exercise where you have to balance on your toes while pulling the carriage in and out. Without the socks, I would have been a goner. But with them, I actually managed to hold the position for a few reps!
One thing I didn’t expect was how much the grip socks helped with my posture. Because I felt so stable in my feet, it was easier to keep my spine aligned and my shoulders relaxed. It was crazy! Who knew socks could make such a big difference?

Also, my feet felt cleaner, which is always a plus. Especially if you’re a little bit of a germaphobe, like me. Going barefoot in a public studio, eh, not my favorite thing.
By the end of the class, I was sold. My feet didn’t hurt either. I’ve had issues before doing things barefoot but the grip socks seemed to help.
Here’s my verdict: Grip socks are totally worth it for pilates, especially if you’re using a reformer. I have now ordered 3 more pairs off of Amazon. They give you better grip, more control, better posture, and they’re more hygienic. Plus, some of them are kinda cute, and that doesn’t hurt, right?
Give ‘em a try! You might be surprised at how much they improve your workout. Seriously, a game changer.
