My Day Tackling That One Annoying Thing
Alright, so January 16th. Woke up, had my usual coffee, and just stared at that corner of my workspace. You know the one. The spot where things just seem to… accumulate. Old cables, papers I thought were important months ago, a weird collection of pens that don’t work. It was just time. Couldn’t ignore it anymore.

So, I decided today was the day. First thing, I just pulled everything out. Dumped it all right in the middle of the floor. Looked like a tech graveyard exploded. Seriously, where did all these random USB cables come from? I don’t even own devices that use half these connectors anymore.
Then came the sorting. Made a few piles:
- Stuff to keep (surprisingly small pile).
- Stuff to toss (satisfyingly large pile).
- Stuff maybe someone else could use (a couple of old gadgets).
Spent a good while untangling cables. Tried using some zip ties I had, then switched to those little velcro strap things. They work okay, I guess. Still looks a bit like spaghetti, but organized spaghetti, maybe? It’s better than the knot it was before.
Found a notebook from like, two years back. Had some project ideas I totally forgot about. Got sidetracked reading through that for a bit. Funny how you think something is genius at the time, then look back and wonder what you were thinking.
Anyway, after the trip down memory lane, I actually wiped down the desk surface in that corner. First time it’s seen daylight in ages, probably. Put back the essentials – the lamp, the charger I actually use, a small box for the working pens.

End result? It looks… clean. Way better. Not perfect, mind you. I’m sure it’ll start collecting stuff again by next month. But for now, it feels good. Felt productive, you know? Didn’t change the world, but I tackled that annoying little corner. That’s something. Took longer than I thought it would, naturally. Always does. But hey, done is done. Maybe the bookshelf is next. We’ll see. No promises.
