Okay, so “pre fall” – sounds kinda vague, right? Well, for me, it turned into this whole thing about getting my wardrobe ready for that weird in-between weather. I started by, you know, just staring at my closet. It was a mess, a total disaster zone of summer dresses and heavy winter coats. No in-between stuff!

First, I pulled everything out. Seriously, everything. It looked like my bedroom exploded. Then I tried on a bunch of stuff, tossing things into piles: “keep,” “donate,” and the dreaded “maybe” pile. That “maybe” pile is always the biggest, isn’t it?
Next, I started thinking about what I actually needed. I live where it gets chilly, but not freezing, in the fall. So, I focused on layers.
- Light Jackets: I found a denim jacket I’d totally forgotten about, score! And a cute, lightweight bomber.
- Sweaters: Not the super chunky ones, but thinner ones I can wear under jackets.
- Long-sleeved shirts: These are key. I can wear them alone or under sweaters.
- Boots: Bye-bye sandals, hello ankle boots! I polished up my old ones, they look pretty good.
Making Outfits
This is where the fun started (and where it got a little overwhelming again). I tried to make outfits before putting things back in my closet. Like, a long-sleeved shirt, with a sweater, and the denim jacket. Or a dress with tights and ankle boots. I even took some pictures on my phone so I wouldn’t forget the combos I liked. I even created a small area in my closet just for Pre-Fall!
It took, like, a whole afternoon, but honestly, it felt good. I got rid of a bunch of clothes I never wear, and now I actually have outfits I can grab without thinking too hard. And, bonus, my closet doesn’t look like a bomb went off anymore. Success!
