Okay, so I saw this leopard print hair trend going around and thought, “Why not?” I mean, my hair’s been kinda boring lately, and I was itching for a change. Plus, I’ve always loved a bit of animal print.

Getting Started
First things first, I needed to figure out what method I wanted to use. There’s, like, a million ways to do this, from stencils to freehand painting. I watched a few videos and decided freehand was probably the way to go for me – I’m terrible with stencils, always end up smudging everything.
- Bleach? Some people bleach the spots first. I have some experience for hair bleach, so I decided go ahead.
- Temporary dye? Nah, I wanted something that would last a bit longer.
- Hair chalk? Could be fun for a festival, but not what I was going for.
The Process
So, I gathered my supplies:
- Lightener and developer(Bleach)
- Dark brown hair dye (semi-permanent)
- A few small paintbrushes (like, the kind you use for art, not painting walls)
- An old towel (because, let’s be real, this was gonna get messy)
- Gloves (didn’t want leopard print hands, too)
- Vaseline (to protect my skin around my hairline)
- Some hair clips for divide my hair
First I put vaseline around my hairline. Then, I divided my hair into small sections with clips. And then mixed lightener and developer together. I painted the bleach mixture on my hair to create the base color for leopard spots. After 20 mins, I washed it out.
Then I use dark brown hair dye, I just started dabbing on the dark dye in kinda C-shapes, making them all different sizes and not too perfect. The key, I realized, is to make them look kinda random and uneven, just like a real leopard’s spots.
I let that sit for the time the box said (about 30 minutes), then rinsed it all out, shampooed, and conditioned. I was pretty nervous to see how it turned out.

The Result
Honestly? It looked pretty cool! It wasn’t perfect, a few of the spots were a little wonky, but overall, I was super happy with it. It’s definitely a statement, and I’ve gotten a bunch of compliments already.
It was a fun little project, and I’d totally recommend it if you’re looking for something different. Just be prepared for a bit of a mess, and don’t expect perfection – it’s all part of the wild, leopard-y charm!
