Okay, so I’ve been messing around with this idea of recreating that 70’s classroom vibe, specifically focusing on the girls’ fashion. Here’s how I went about it:

My Little Retro Project
First, I dug through a ton of old photos. Seriously, I spent hours online looking at pics from the 70s – yearbooks, family albums, everything. I wanted to get a real feel for what girls actually wore to school back then, not just the crazy stuff you see in movies.
Then, I started to pull together some key pieces. This was the fun part! Here’s some of the item I focused on:
- A-line skirts: These were everywhere! Usually hitting around the knee, or maybe a bit longer.
- Knee-high socks: Gotta have ’em. Especially in those earthy tones, like browns and oranges.
- T-shirts with stripes or patterns: Simple, but with some kind of detail. Nothing too plain.
- Corduroy: It’s a classic. Either a corduroy skirt or maybe even some pants if the weather.
I tried to imagine what it would really be like. Like, no fancy designer stuff – just regular clothes that a normal kid would wear. I even looked at some old Sears catalogs online (yeah, they have those!) to see what was actually being sold back then.
After I got all the pieces, it was time to put them together. It’s not just about the individual items, it’s about how you combine them. I played around with different combinations, trying to make it look authentic, not like a costume.
It’s a work in progress, this whole thing. There is still so much to learn and improve, and I plan to do it continuously.
