Okay, so, the other day, I was scrolling through some images, and I had this crazy idea: “What if I tried to recreate one of those ‘bikini mom’ photos?” I mean, I’ve seen them all over, those moms looking all fit and fabulous in their swimwear. I’m a mom, I have a bikini… let’s do this!
Getting Started
First, I had to find the right bikini. Not just any bikini would do. It had to be, you know, the one. I dug through my drawer and pulled out a few options. One was too old, another one… well, let’s just say it didn’t fit quite like it used to. Finally, I found a decent one – a simple black two-piece. Not super flashy, but it would work.
The Setting
Next, the location. I don’t live near a beach, so that was out. My backyard? Kinda messy. The bathroom? Too cramped. I settled on my bedroom. I figured I could move some furniture around, open the curtains for some natural light, and create a somewhat decent backdrop.
The Pose
This was the tricky part. I googled some “bikini mom” pictures for inspiration. Lots of confident smiles, hands on hips, that sort of thing. I stood in front of the mirror and tried a few poses. It felt… awkward. Really awkward. I kept adjusting, shifting my weight, trying to find something that looked natural and not like I was trying too hard (which, let’s be honest, I totally was).
Taking the Pictures
I propped my phone up against a stack of books and set the timer. Then I ran back to my “spot,” struck a pose, and waited for the shutter. I took a bunch of pictures, changing my pose slightly each time. Some were okay, some were terrible (my face looked so strained!), and some were just plain hilarious. I deleted a lot.
- My summary of snapshots:
- Angle is very hard to control
- I look terrible.
- Delete immediately!

The Result
After looking through all the photos, I picked one that was… passable. It wasn’t perfect, but it captured the general idea. Did I look like those super-fit moms in the magazines? Nope. Did I have fun? Surprisingly, yes! It was a silly little experiment, and it reminded me that it’s okay to not take myself too seriously.
I maybe put a little filter.
Would I do it again? Maybe. But next time, I might bring in a professional photographer… or at least a friend who’s good with a camera!
