Okay, so I decided to do a ’90s costume for this party, and I wanted to share how I put it all together. It was actually way easier than I thought!

Finding the Inspiration

First, I scrolled through Pinterest, looking at tons of ’90s female fashion icons. Think Spice Girls, Clueless, Friends – that kind of vibe. I noticed some common threads: crop tops, high-waisted jeans, overalls, chokers, and bright colors. It really did help me narrow it down!

Raiding My Closet (and Mom’s!)

Next, I dug through my own closet. I was surprised to find a few things that actually worked! I had an old pair of high-waisted jeans that I never wear. I also found a plain black crop top. Score!

Then, I asked my mom if she had any old clothes from the ’90s. That was like a gold mine. She had this amazing denim overall dress that was perfect! Also got a few colorful scrunchies.

The Thrifting Adventure

Even though I had some good basics, I still needed a few key pieces. So, I headed to the local thrift store. I found a really cool flannel shirt which I decided I can wear it tied around my waist. I also find a pair of chunky platform sneakers. They were a little scuffed, but that just added to the ’90s vibe, you know?

Putting It All Together

So, here’s what I ended up with:

  • Denim overall dress: From Mom’s closet – vintage and perfect!
  • Black crop top: Already had this one.
  • Flannel shirt: Thrift store find, to tie around my waist.
  • Chunky sneakers: Also from the thrift store.
  • Scrunchies:Colorful ones from Mom.
  • Choker necklace: I actually found this at a cheap accessories store.

I tried everything on, and it totally worked! I added some ’90s-inspired makeup – brown lipstick and a bit of glitter – and I was good to go. I felt totally transported back in time, and it was so much fun! The whole costume cost me very little, mostly because I used what I had or found cheap options. Totally recommend this for an easy and fun costume idea!
