Okay, so I wanted to try out that “2012 style men” look that’s been making rounds. I figured, why not? Let’s dive into how I went about it.

Digging Through the Closet
First things first, I raided my closet. I was looking for anything that screamed “2012”. Think back to what you were probably wearing (or what guys around you wore) back then. I was hunting for:
- Some brightly colored skinny chinos.
- Maybe a denim shirt. I found a few!
- Checked shirts, especially those flannel ones.
- V-neck T-shirts. The deeper, the better, right?
- A cardigan. It should be chunky.
Putting It All Together
I grabbed a pair of red skinny chinos. Man, I forgot how tight these things were! Then, I threw on a light blue denim shirt, and buttoned it up almost all the way. I think I rolled up the sleeves. Cause that’s how we did it!
Then to make the look more “2012”, I added a gray, chunky knit cardigan over top. It felt a little bulky, but hey, that was the style, I think.
Accessorizing the Look
This is where things got a bit tricky. I remember everyone was wearing those thick-rimmed glasses, even if they didn’t need them. I found a pair of fake ones, and yeah, it completed the look. I also rummaged around for a simple, woven belt – nothing too flashy.
Shoes and Hair
For shoes, I opted for some basic canvas sneakers. Simple. Easy. As for hair, I just went for that side-swept, slightly messy look. Lots of hair product was probably used back then, but I kept it pretty minimal.

The Final Verdict
I looked into the mirrior. It was kind of funny. It definitely brought back memories of that era. Was it a look I’d wear regularly? Probably not. But it was a fun little experiment to step back in time and try to recreate that 2012 style.
It is not a style for a serious bussiness meeting, right? I did it just for fun.
